LEIBISH RESPONSIBLE SOURCING AND CONFLICT-FREE DIAMONDS POLICY

LEIBISH is committed to the responsible sourcing of diamonds, gemstones and precious metals and to conducting business in a manner that respects human rights, supports legitimate trade and seeks to avoid contributing to armed conflict, unlawful activity or serious abuses within mineral supply chains.

This policy applies to eligible LEIBISH diamonds, gemstones and jewellery offered through Italian Luxury Group.

Kimberley Process

LEIBISH supports the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, an international framework established to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate trade.

The Kimberley Process applies primarily to the international trade in rough diamonds. LEIBISH requires its relevant suppliers to source rough diamonds through legitimate channels and, where applicable, in accordance with Kimberley Process requirements.

The Kimberley Process defines conflict diamonds as rough diamonds used by rebel movements or their allies to finance armed conflict aimed at undermining legitimate governments.

Compliance with the Kimberley Process is an important component of responsible sourcing but does not, by itself, address every potential environmental, labour, human-rights or supply-chain risk associated with diamonds, gemstones or precious metals.

Supplier requirements

LEIBISH expects its suppliers to:

  • trade only through lawful and legitimate channels;

  • comply with applicable sanctions, anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing laws;

  • maintain appropriate records relating to the origin and supply of relevant materials;

  • provide representations or assurances regarding conflict-free sourcing where applicable;

  • disclose known treatments, enhancements or laboratory-grown origin;

  • avoid materials that they know, or reasonably suspect, may directly finance armed groups, unlawful activity or serious human-rights abuses; and

  • cooperate with reasonable due-diligence enquiries.

Supplier representations and contractual commitments form part of LEIBISH’s sourcing controls. However, responsible sourcing is an ongoing due-diligence process rather than an absolute guarantee that no risk can ever arise at any level of a global supply chain.

Diamonds, gemstones and precious metals

LEIBISH seeks to source diamonds, coloured gemstones, gold and other precious materials from established and reputable suppliers.

Where relevant, its sourcing practices may take account of recognised due-diligence principles for minerals originating from conflict-affected or high-risk areas.

These principles include identifying supply-chain risks, assessing supplier information, responding to identified concerns and, where appropriate, suspending or ending a supplier relationship.

Conflict-affected and high-risk areas

LEIBISH does not rely solely on broad country-based exclusions.

Political, social and supply-chain conditions can change over time, and sourcing risks may vary within individual countries and regions.

LEIBISH therefore seeks to assess relevant risks based on available information concerning:

  • the supplier;

  • the source and route of the material;

  • applicable trade restrictions or sanctions;

  • the type of mineral or gemstone;

  • available documentation; and

  • known human-rights, conflict-financing or financial-crime concerns.

Where a material sourcing concern is identified, LEIBISH may request further documentation, suspend a transaction, reject the relevant goods or discontinue the supplier relationship.

Anti-money-laundering and lawful trade

LEIBISH conducts its business subject to applicable anti-money-laundering, sanctions and counter-terrorist-financing requirements.

References to legislation such as the USA PATRIOT Act relate to financial-crime compliance obligations that may apply to certain businesses and transactions. Such legislation should not be interpreted as independently certifying a diamond, gemstone or jewellery item as ethically sourced.

Environmental and social responsibility

LEIBISH seeks to work with suppliers that conduct their operations responsibly and comply with applicable labour, environmental, health and safety laws.

LEIBISH supports ongoing improvements in transparency, traceability and responsible business conduct throughout the jewellery supply chain.

Because diamonds, gemstones and precious metals often pass through complex international supply chains, LEIBISH does not represent that every environmental or social impact can be independently verified at every stage unless expressly supported by documented product-specific traceability.
